Knitting Pattern in English for an Oversize-Cardigan with a straight, boxy fit, tapered sleeves and a modern checked pattern in sizes XS | S | M (L | XL | 2XL) 3XL | 4XL | 5XL.
Structure:
The cardigan is worked in stockinette stitch top down in one piece. First, the back part is shaped with increases along the shoulders. Then, stitches along the shoulder section of the back part are picked up for the two front parts, which are worked separately with increases to shape the V neck of the cardigan. Then, all parts are joined under the armpits and the body is finished in stockinette stitch in rows and ends with a hem in 1x1 ribbing. Then, stitches for the sleeves are picked up along the armholes and the sleeve are worked back and forth in rows to facilitate the crocheting of the vertical stripes. The sleeves are finished with a bunch of decreases for a tapered fit and a hem in 1x1 ribbing matching to the body hem. Before the sleeve seams are closed, body and sleeves are covered with crochet stripes for a classic checked pattern (interpreted in modern and funky colors). Finally, a button band in 1x1 ribbing or optionally in double knitting is attached to the front parts and to the neckline of the cardigan. Buttons are sewn to the button band to finish off the design.
The fit of the cardigan is slightly oversized with a comfortable amount of positive ease around the
bust. The boxy fit is emphasized by the straight cut of the body. The sleeves are tapered to make them as comfortable as possible. The hems and cuffs (and button band) in 1x1 ribbing in the MC create an interesting contrast to the colour popping checked pattern.
The length of the cardigan can be adapted individually, but has been calculated for a short to medium length.
